ACEO Northern Saw-Whet Owl

A very late ACEO for a trade with . It took me way too long to get to do this, but since last fall, my life has been slightly in pieces, so trying to keep it all together and do something got increasingly hard. But this month for a couple of weeks, I got a massive amount of inspiration to paint again, so I tried to finish as many paintings as I could, and this was one of them.

As for the picture, I was browsing Google for pictures of a Northern saw-whet owl, and found this wonderful wallpaper of one peeking out from branches with some red berries, and I knew it had to be it. It was just so cute.

While I am not quite satisfied with the owl, particularly the face, I really like how the background turned out. It was something a bit new for me, and a good opportunity to play with watery and defined shapes, also to practice making layers of leaves. Overall I'm quite happy with it.
