Dryad

Dryads (drys - oak) were forest spirits/nymphs in ancient greek mythology. They were said to be very shy and usually tied to the place they lived in. Some dryads (called Hamadryads) were attached to one specific tree, and if the tree died, then the dryad perished as well.

This drawing started absolutely randomly, when I started drawing some flowers and plants. Later I decided that it needed some sort of character, and a dryad seemed fitting to this composition. This was a nice drawing for practice with fine liners, and it took me some self control not to start adding too many details.
